Principal’s Message

Dr. Dolores Araujo Jr.

Dear Guillermo Flores Elementary Community,

It is with great pride and enthusiasm that I serve as the campus principal of Guillermo Flores Elementary. I am truly honored to be part of this exceptional school community and am committed to working in partnership with students, families, and staff to continue building a culture of excellence and success.

I bring 14 years of experience in education, all rooted in a deep commitment to student achievement and community collaboration. I began my career at Diaz Villarreal Elementary as a 4th-grade teacher, where I also served as lead teacher, curriculum writer, and district presenter. I was humbled to be named Teacher of the Year during the 2020–2021 school year. I later transitioned into leadership roles as assistant principal at both Sam Fordyce and Benavides Elementary.

My academic background includes a Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and a Master's in Educational Leadership from Texas A&M International University. I am also a certified Apple Educator and a proud graduate of La Joya I.S.D.'s Pathway to Principalship Program.

I believe that strong relationships are at the heart of a thriving school. As your principal, I am committed to working closely with teachers, parents, and community members to ensure every child at Guillermo Flores Elementary receives the highest quality education in a safe, supportive, and inspiring environment. Together, we will continue to focus on academic excellence, innovative teaching, and student well-being.

Please don't hesitate to reach out — I always welcome your ideas, feedback, and collaboration.
