🐾LJHS Principal's Welcome Message: 🐾
Home of the Mighty Coyotes – Coyote Country
Dear Students, Parents, Teachers, Staff, and La Joya Community,
It is with great excitement and gratitude that I introduce myself as the new Principal of La Joya High School. As a proud son of the Rio Grande Valley and the child of migrant farmworkers, I’ve seen the power of education to change lives—and I’m living proof of what faith, perseverance, and community can do.
My journey in education began as a high school security officer and has led me through the roles of teacher, coach, department head, and assistant principal. I’m now honored to lead this campus, and I’m committed to serving with faith, purpose, and heart.
This year, our guiding message is:
Persistence, Rigor, and Purpose — Every Student. Every Classroom. Every Day.
Together, we will build an exemplary campus—not by luck, but because we have the best teachers, a passionate staff, and students worth believing in. I promise to lead with integrity, visibility, and service, and to always keep our students at the center of every decision.
To our students: You are capable of greatness.
To our staff: You are the heartbeat of this school.
To our families: Thank you for trusting us with your children.
Let’s make this a year of growth, unity, and excellence.
Let’s lead with heart. Let’s rise as Powerful Coyote Champions. This is Coyote Country!
With pride and purpose,
Eduardo "Eddie" Flores
Principal, La Joya High School

At the July 30, 2025 Board Meeting, La Joya ISD School Board approved a new district policy in alignment with Texas House Bill 1481, which requires school districts across the state to limit the use of personal communication devices during instructional hours.
📱 What this means for our students:
Starting with the 2025–2026 school year, students in Pre-K through 12th grade will not be allowed to use cell phones, smartwatches, earbuds, or similar electronic devices during the school day—from arrival to dismissal.
🔒 Devices can still be brought to school, but they must be:
• Turned off before entering the school building
• Stored securely, either in backpacks, designated areas, or district-issued locking pouches (depending on grade level)
• Left untouched until the end of the instructional day
📍 Implementation will vary by campus level:
• Elementary: Devices stored in backpacks or teacher-designated spaces
• Middle & High School: Devices must be stored in district-provided locking pouches
• HOPE and College & Career Center: No personal devices allowed on campus
⚠️ Progressive discipline will be used for violations, ranging from verbal warnings to device holds.
This policy is designed to minimize distractions and improve safety across our campuses, ensuring that students stay focused and engaged in learning.
Questions? Please reach out to your child’s school for support. For more information, please visit our website at www.lajoyaisd.com/page/cell-phone-policy
